Michelle's Miracle is a team dedicated to raising as much money and awareness as we possibly can in memory of Michelle Robinson Firman. Michelle was a loving wife, mommy, sister, daughter, and friend who prayed for a miracle to one day beat this terrible disease.
In October 2014, Michelle was diagnosed with ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She was 32 years old, recently married to her best friend, John, and raising their two boys, Noah (2) and Jacob (8 mos).
A lot happened in that first year: Jacob had his 1st Halloween, Turkey day, Christmas and his first birthday! The whole time Michelle continued to be strong, courageous, and ever faithful!
The second year became harder. We moved to a new house that better suited our needs, she transitioned into a power wheelchair, she lost the ability to eat by mouth, and it became increasingly harder to understand what she was trying to say. While these hardship may have gotten others down, Michelle kept a smile on her face and a positive attitude, trusting fully in God’s plan.
This last 6 months was the hardest yet. Michelle was always having to adjust to the new normal as things progressively got worse. Communicating to her sweet boys became ever harder and this was perhaps the most difficult thing for Michelle to face. On April 30, in the company of her loving husband, Michelle was too tied to fight anymore and quietly passed away.
While ALS may have physically beaten Michelle down, it never took away her faith! She trusted in God through it all. Michelle did receive her miracle, although not the way we wanted which means we still have work to do! Michelle prayed for a miracle and we will never stop believing that one day that miracle will come. It will be a miracle for so many families affected by this terrible disease! Please join us any way you can to help us defeat ALS! Thank you for being a voice for those who do not have one and for walking for those who can't.
