Thank you for Participating - awareness is a priority!
And thanks for helping me reach my fundraising goal last year. We raised over $21,000.... and with your help we are closer to a world without ALS.
In June of 2017 had the conversation I was pretty sure was coming:
Doc: “Have you heard of Lou Gehrig’s Disease?”
Me: “Yes”
Doc: “That’s what you’ve got”
Me: “OK”
But believe me when I tell you I’m a lucky one.
Because I’m in a small group (single digit %) that somehow have what they determine to be “slow developing symptoms.” Which means I drew one of the best straws out of a crappy bucket of straws.
And I feel like I have a responsibility to speak up, to help each person in the world that is affected by this disease. There is currently no cure, but I have a fighting chance of being able to benefit from one because so much is happening with research and development right now.
The more ALS is recognized and discussed, the more any stigma is removed, the more funding and research that is able to be directly put to medical tests with real patients, the better chance we find a cure. And the sooner.
Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
What About the Funds?
Well more than half of all money raised in this one day walk stays in Georgia to help people with their quality of life. Yes, it will also help me in small ways.
Another portion of funds raised goes to the national ALS Association where they are focused on research and solutions.
Any amount of donation and participation will help.
Thanks for your help, and Keep it Positive.
